JOSEPH WALSH & DAVID O’ROURKE
THURSDAY JULY 23

TICKET PRICE €10.00 / £10.00 / $13.00
Joseph Walsh vocals
David O’Rourke vocals
Joseph Walsh is a veteran of the New York City music scene, having divided his time between multiple musical genres. His first project, RadioZero, was a prominent force in the Pop/Punk movement of the mid-90’s, either touring the northeast relentlessly or logging hour upon hour in the studio recording their popular set of EPs. Shifting gears in the new millennium, Joseph decided to expand his range by pursuing his lifelong love affair with jazz and the popular vocal genre that dominated the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. In 2003 he released his lone solo effort thus far, “Forgotten in Manhattan”, co-produced and arranged by O’Rourke, and a throwback to the concept albums invented and perfected by Frank Sinatra during his wildly influential stay at Capitol Records. He soon found himself performing in multiple configurations, from vocal & instrument duets to 50+ piece big band orchestras, working with some of the best talents the jazz world may offer. Mr. Walsh is also an avid film enthusiast. He’s never shy about his status as a lifelong New Yorker. He is classy a vocalist inspired by Bobby Darren, Frank Sinatra and all of the great crooners.
David O’Rourke is New York City based jazz guitarist, conductor, and arranger. He has played with many jazz legends such as Tommy Flanagan’s Trio, Cedar Walton’s Trio, Jackie McLean, Billy Higgins, Curtis Fuller, James Spaulding, Vernal Fournier, and Brother Jack McDuff. He collaborated with drummer Lewis Nash on a project that brought Irish music and jazz together for a CD (“Aisling”) by a band they called “The Celtic Jazz Collective”. In 1990 he recorded “The Prize” with Larry Willis (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass) and Al Harewood (drums) .
For the last 10 years he has guided tomorrow’s jazz musicians as ‘house bandleader’ of the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra. And for his contributions to Jazz Standard Discovery (a music education program that he has led since 1998), David and co-founder James Polsky were named “New Yorkers Of The Week” by NY1 News. He has played with Les Paul and Bucky Pizzarelli and studied with legends such as Barry Galbraith and Pat Martino. He currently leads and writes for his own 20-piece band (The O’Rourkestra) at the Zinc Bar NYC.
