Solo Concerts with some of the finest artists in Jazz today

Each concert will be 30 minutes (approx) and will be followed by a Q&A session with the performing artist(s).

The concerts will be live on Zoom. We have done all we can to achieve the best possible audio experience but we can only work within the bounds of the technology available at present. We advise using headphones.

Frank Harrison - piano

After taking up a scholarship at Berklee School Of Music, Boston, Frank returned to England and joined the Orient House Ensemble playing all over the world at major Jazz and World music festivals. Frank has also performed with Tim Garland, Peter King, Julian Arguelles, Bobby Wellins, Julian Siegel, Don Weller, John Etheridge, Louis Stewart and Iain Ballamy.

He leads his on trio and apart from his work as a sideman he has recorded 5 albums as a leader, all to high critical acclaim, and a duo album with Brigitte Baraha.

David O’Rourke - guitar, Doug DeHays - saxophone & clarinet

David has played with many jazz legends such as Tommy Flanagan’s Trio, Cedar Walton’s Trio, Jackie McLean, Billy Higgins, Curtis Fuller, James Spaulding, Vernal Fournier, and Brother Jack McDuff. He collaborated with drummer Lewis Nash on a project that brought Irish music and jazz together for a CD (“Aisling”) by a band they called “The Celtic Jazz Collective”. They played several runs at Jazz Standard as well as a performance in Harvard sponsored by the Cambridge Multicultural Center. David recorded a CD with Larry Willis (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass) and Al Harewood (drums) and later on wrote an extended orchestral medley from Porgy And Bess for Larry Willis to perform with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra. His close friendship with George Benson and Hammond B3 player Seleno Clarke led to a 12 year stint with Seleno’s Quintet. From their Harlem base the quintet played festivals in the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada and at various US festivals.

For over a decade, New York City based jazz guitarist, conductor, and arranger he has guided tomorrow’s jazz musicians as ‘house bandleader’ of the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra. And for his contributions to Jazz Standard Discovery (a music education program that he has led since 1998), David and co-founder James Polsky were named “New Yorkers Of The Week” by NY1 News. He has played with Les Paul and Bucky Pizzarelli and studied with legends such as Barry Galbraith and Pat Martino. He currently leads and writes for his own 20-piece band (The O’Rourkestra) at the Zinc Bar NYC.

Will Barry - piano  Jim Gold - alto sax

Will Barry is a pianist, drummer and percussionist from London who graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2016. He is part of numerous projects internationally, most prominently touring with Phronesis bassist Jasper Høiby’s group ‘Fellow Creatures’ in Turkey, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Holland and also extensively in the UK.  In the last few years Will has performed at the North Sea, Love Supreme, Green Hours and Umbria Jazz Festivals.

Whilst living in Spain, Will appeared alongside Mario Rossy, Madison McFerrin and Perico Sambeat as well as Cuban musicians Julio Montalvo, Yoel Paez and Issac Delgado Jr, performing in Barcelona, Alicante and Madrid and recording at Berklee College of Music in Valencia. Chucho Valdés (Irakere) described his playing as "sensitive and fluid - a beautiful sound”.

Jim Gold is a London-based saxophonist and bandleader. He has performed at Ronnie Scott’s with his own quartet, Billy Cobham with The Guy Barker Big Band, The Skelton/Skinner Allstars Big Band, The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, The Callum Au Big Band, and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, in which he played lead alto. He has also appeared in Jasper Høiby's 'Fellow Creatures', Brandon Allen’s sextet, Gareth Lockrane’s Big Band, Alan Barnes' '+11', Keith Tippett’s Octet, and Pete Long’s ‘Jazz at the Philharmonic’.

In 2012, he joined NYJO, and held the lead alto chair with the band from 2015-2017, appearing at the BBC Proms, and on BBC’s The One Show and The Today Programme on Radio 4. He was described as being amongst 'the pick of the consistently excellent bunch' in Jack Massarik’s review of NYJO’s album ‘The Change’ in Jazzwise, and praised for his 'fine solos' in the Evening Standard.

Throughout 2013 Jim could be heard regularly opening the jam session at Charlie Wright’s with Rob Luft, appearing alongside Steve Fishwick, Sammy Mayne, and Martin Speake. Whilst studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at University College, Oxford, he directed the Oxford University Big Band, organising concerts featuring Atlantic Records artist Kwabs and Mornington Lockett. His writing has been featured on BBC Radio 3's Jazz Now.

LORI ZUROFF, MOLLY FLANNERY & BILL MCCORMACK

Lori Zuroff - vocals, Molly Flannery - piano, Bill McCormack - bass

Lori Zuroff has been singing with various rock, blues, R&B, and jazz bands for over 20 years in the Boston area.  She has performed with both small and large bands in venues all over Boston including at the Chick Singer Night at Johnny D's in Somerville, Thelonius Monkfish in Cambridge, and other clubs from Boston to Worcester to Cape Cod and beyond.  Lori leads her own rock band, Lola Sweet and the Burbanites, as well as singing lead and backup in the 14 piece horn-centric band, Midtown Horns. Lori studied jazz vocals for several years with Boston's own jazz divas Rebecca Parris and Dominique Eade, and with Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton in New York City.  She recently released her premiere jazz CD, called Ladybug, available on Spotify or hard copy from Lori at lzuroff@gmail.com

Prior to the pandemic, Lori was co-hosting a popular blues jam in Maynard and visiting hospitals for Musicians on Call.

Molly Flannery has a distinctive touch on the piano, with melodic improvisations, and the ability to groove in jazz, Latin, and Brazilian idioms. These talents, combined with her skills in arranging and composing music and leading ensembles, make her a major player in the highly competitive Boston jazz scene.

After studying composition, improvisation, and theory at Yale, Molly began her performing career in Kyoto, Japan in 1981 where she appeared frequently at local clubs, and eventually settled in Boston where she studied jazz with Ran Blake, Charlie Banacos, and Kenny Werner.

Bassist Bill McCormack grew up in Ireland and started playing trumpet and bass at an early age. Before moving to the United States he played bass with many of Irelands` top musicians including singers Honor Heffernan and Christine Tobin, traditional Irish band Stocktons Wing, and was a member of renowned jazz guitarist Louis Stewarts’ regular quartet. He continues to hold down the groove on a diverse Boston music scene playing both upright and electric bass with many of the areas best musicians.

Legendary saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi gained worldwide recognition while performing with, Two Generations of Brubeck bands. He is a performer, composer, author and educator, renowned for his innovation, mastery, and integrity. In an endless series of rave reviews he is credited for his relentless drive, inner fire, total command, awesome technique, elastic lyricism, rich resonance and as a musical visionary. His music has been applauded throughout the world at all the major festivals, concert halls and venues.

Among the many other artists that Bergonzi has performed and recorded with are; Bill Evans, Paul Desmond, Dave Holland, Gerry Mulligan, Jack DeJonette, John Abercrombie, Roy Haynes, Pat Martino and many more.

Bruce Gertz is known for his superb mastery of the upright bass and was named “Outstanding Bassist” by Boston Music Awards. What some fans don’t know is that he grew up playing electric bass from the age of 14 and still plays (and teaches) the electric quite often. His extraordinary contribution to music education has earned him multiple recognition awards from The International Association of Jazz Educators and the Jazz Education Network. He has been serving as a Professor of Bass at Berklee College of Music since 1976. Additional educator credits include serving on the advisory board of the International Society of Bassists and as an adjudicator at the Clark Terry UNH Jazzer's Festival.

 He has performed and recorded with such artists as Gary Burton, Jerry Bergonzi, John Abercrombie, Joey Calderazzo, Kenny Werner, Mick Goodrick, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Billy Hart, Bill Frisell, Bob Berg, George Cables, Gil Evans, Tom Harrell, Jon Hendricks, Diane Schuur, Dave Brubeck, George Garzone, Mike Stern, Larry Coryell, Joe Lovano, Cab Calloway, Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie and many others.
